LUBRICATION
- We recommend using 100% silicone spray.
- Turn the treadmill off and lift the tread belt with your hand. Wipe under the belt on the deck surface with a clean dry cloth to remove any dust.
- Spray the silicone under the belt on the deck surface beginning at the front, and zigzag from the centre to the edge all the way to the back of the deck. This should take approximately 5-6 seconds. Repeat the process on the opposite side of the unit.
- Walk on the treadmill immediately after lubricating for a few minutes, this helps to spread the silicone thoroughly on the deck surface.
- Lubricate approximately every 4 weeks.
BELT ADJUSTMENT
Over time treadmill belts may shift to one side of the deck or slip slightly during use. The term slipping refers to when the mat slips or jerks when you step. Belts shifting to a side is most commonly caused by either an uneven floor surface or the user favoring one side when they run.
It is important to refer to the owner’s manual before attempting to make any adjustments. RedFit treadmills will have allen key bolts located at the rear where belt adjustments can be made.
SIDE TO SIDE ADJUSTMENT
To adjust the alignment
- Run the treadmill at around 4 kph. Adjusting from the left rear bolt only, turn clockwise to move the belt right or anti-clockwise to move the belt left. Never do more than a 1⁄4 turn a time as there is a very fine adjustment and over turning will send the belt past centre and to the other side.
- Once the belt is centred, let the treadmill run for a few minutes to make sure it is no longer moving to either side.
TENSION ADJUSTMENT
A treadmill belt is similar to a piece of clothing in the fact that it can change shape over time and with use. A treadmill belt that is too loose will slip and jerk, you may even be able to completely stop the mat from moving with your body weight.
To tighten the tread belt
- Run the treadmill at around 3-4 kph. Adjust both rear bolts in quick succession 1⁄4 turn clockwise.
- After adjusting, walk on the unit to assess if it is still slipping.
- If it continues to slip repeat the process with 1⁄4 turns up to 3 times. If it still continues to slip contact your local treadmill specialist, as there is possibly a more serious problem.
CLEANING
Treadmills pick up dust, dirt and carpet fluff etc when they are operating. It is recommended that you wipe down your machine with a dry cloth every month or so. You can also use a dry cloth to wipe in between the mat and deck, ideally before lubricating.
- Every 3 months the motor cover should be removed to vacuum the motor bay. The cover is secured by a handful of screws, it is easily removed. Please make sure the unit is unplugged from the power point before doing so. Vacuum thoroughly, being careful not to touch the computer board or circuits with the vacuum nozzle.
We recommend placing your treadmill on a protective rubber mat. Using a mat will not only protect your floor surface from damage but will also reduce the amount of dust and dirt that collects on your treadmill from the ground.
